It's been quite a while since I have last posted anything new on my blog here. Well, I finally got around to doing some more mods to a couple of my guns, so I figured I would takes some photos and show them off.
Here is my 1377, which didn't have much done to it before, with a new Crosman steel breech, Williams Notch Blade sight and an extended bolt probe and steel handle from Mac1 Airguns. I sure do like the Williams sight, it seems to help with my aim and accuracy. The steel breech was necessary to mount the Williams sight and since I got the breech I picked up an extended bolt probe from Mac1 Airguns because that helps with accuracy and FPS a little bit.
Next will be some power mods such as a flat top piston and valve. For now though it is a sweet shooter and I am overall pretty happy with it.
My favorite! How would you say the Crosman breech compares to the RJ on your carbine, or others you have seen?
ReplyDeleteHi Jason,
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, the Crosman breeches are very good in form and function. Some people even prefer their looks over the aftermarket breeches that are available. The only downsides that I see are the finish on some of the Crosmans can be a bit on the rough side, it is kind of hit and miss with that. I have been lucky with the 2 Crosman steel breeches I own. The other thing is the little hex screw that secures the front of the breech to the tube is really easy to strip if you aren't careful.
With my RJ breeches, I prefer the look of the square type breech. The fit, form and function of these breeches are outstanding in many peoples opinions, including mine. RJ has also countersunk the front breech screw and supplied a stainless steel phillips screw to secure his, which is much more durable than the screw the Crosmans use.
I hope this answers most of your questions, if you want more info just ask away!

Hey zoned,
ReplyDeletei stripped the breech screw, and from what i understand happened to you as well..

Hi mattia,
ReplyDeleteSo far I've been lucky enough for this not to happen to me yet. If it does happen you can cut a slot in the head of the screw with a dremel so that you can use a flathead screwdriver to remove the screw. Hope this helps.
I'm interested in upgrading my 1377. Do I just need the Crosman steel breech to mount the Williams Notch Blade sight or something in-between? Many thanks!
ReplyDeleteThe Crosman steel breech will work to mount a Williams notch blade sight. I found the Williams needs a fairly high front site post. The stock one wouldn't work with my Williams.
ReplyDeleteHope this helps.
"I found the Williams needs a fairly high front site post. The stock one wouldn't work with my Williams."
ReplyDeleteHow do I get a higher front post? Do you have recommendations. Thanks so much. You're site is VERY helpful and inspiring!!
You can modify the front sight to make it stand a little higher. Some guys have taken a piece of fiber optic tube or even cut the piece off of one of those colored golf ball markers and glue it to the top of the stock front sight. I hear it works pretty well.
ReplyDeleteAnother option, but more expensive, is to install a longer barrel and use a muzzle brake with a sight post on it. There are a few guys out there that can make you a brake like that. For example, Art Braden, Larry Rollins, Mike Tiehen(TKO) or Rich from Mich.
Good luck and happy shooting!
It's early morning after an all night work fest so maybe my bleariness is showing BUT I can't seem to locate the steel breech with dovetail needed to mount the Williams Notch Sight on the 1377c. Thanks for any help
ReplyDeleteOops forgot to note that I am a NOOOOB. Lol
ReplyDeleteHi Norien,
ReplyDeleteThere are a few place to get them. You can order a steel breech kit directly from Crosman either through their website or call them directly through their 1-800 number.
Then there are places like AB Airguns. You can call him or go to his website and order from there as well. All the links you need are on the main page of my blog on the left hand side.
Hope that helps!
Is there a way to get a few fps or power say if i was to just shave the stock valve to make it a flat top and keep the plastic part stock?
ReplyDeleteOr will i lose seal leak?
