I purchased this gun a while back at Big5 Sporting Goods and since then have done a couple of mods to it. The first thing I did was take it apart and lube tune it. It shoots a LOT smoother since that was done, it really tamed down the firing cycle. I also added a GTX trigger blade replacement that I purchased from PSP Airguns. This mod alone made it shoot like a different gun. It reduced the trigger pull from over 5lbs stock to a little less than 2 lbs. The trigger upgrade is worth every penny in this gun since the stock trigger pull is WAY to heavy. I am able to shoot ragged one holers at 2o yards easy with this gun now, since the mods.
I also topped it off with a Center Point power class 4-16x56mmAO red/green illuminated reticle scope. This is the scope I won a few months ago in the Center Point scope giveaway(Thanks Josh!). I have to say I am very happy with this scope so far. It has stood up to the springer recoil with no damage yet. The optics are very clear on this scope and with the large objective it is easy to acquire your target with such a wide field of view. I haven't done much low light shooting so I haven't really tested the illuminated reticle feature out yet. But from what I can tell it seems to be pretty effective. This scope is a great addition to the Quest and I am happy with the combo. I really enjoy shooting this gun.
The only other thing I may do to it is to install a muzzle brake in the future. I will most likely get one of Rich in Mich. custom brakes as he makes some for the Quest line of guns.
hey, i got the crosman quest 1000x too. i got it kinda used (it was the display model at the store). can you please tell me directions of how to take it apart/ lube it? please email me at shootthepigeons@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI sent you an email with some info.
ReplyDeleteHere are a couple of useful links regarding disassembly of the Quest and a place to buy some springer lubricants.

I just got a crosman quest 1000x and have read reviews stating that the stock scope gives people lots of issues. I've also read that certain people have installed them in ways that have been fantastic. Would it be possible for someone to email me with their opinion and maybe even some instructions for success. I would love to use the scope, but if it is a lost cause, I would just like to make sure that everything is tuned correctly to enable the most accurate shooting possible out of this gun. Thanks for the help, my email is bmon88@sbcglobal.net
ReplyDeleteMr. apoftbal,
ReplyDeleteI have the same air rifle and scope. It works great. I am amazed at the accuracy of this inexpensive, practical and simple pellet gun setup.
If you just start shooting and zero it in at 20 to 40 yards, you will learn a lot about shooting pellets and air rifles. After a couple hundred rounds, you might know enough to start thinking about upgrading.
Just my experience. The more I shoot, the more I learn and understand, the happier I am that I did not spend excessive $$$ on a more deluxe setup.
Good luck,
Joel
I just got a Crosman Quest 1000 this evening - got it home, took the trigger lock off and tried to cock it. Can't move the barrel at all - is there some kind of pin or locking mechanism that's preventing me from cocking the rifle?
ReplyDeleteI've had the same problem, the first break is going to be the hardest. I broke mine by pushing it against my knee. Also I have been using the stock scope with good results. Just wondering what type of ammo is everyone having the best accuracy with? For me using some old daisy premeir pointed pellets have proved to be better then the rocket gamo bullets. I am running out of ammo and thinking of getting some crosman, beeman, JSB, or RWS ammo
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your comment. I have a friend that has a 3100 corsman break barrel. What is the difference between the 1000 and 3100? I am thinking about getting it and modifying it similar to the one you described.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
kapowie
ive had my crossman for years and the factory scope works great once sighted in. i prety much had to buy a bore sight for it. but the scopes great. the pellets ive found that work the best are the crossman hunting pointed pellets their cheap and really work the best in the qest.
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem as mickmten did as I just bought a Quest 1000X and received yesterday...I hope there is someway to make this easier...
ReplyDeleteHow do you know it shoots "soooo much smoother" if the first thing you did was lube it, not shoot it ;)? Lol.
ReplyDeleteTo all you with stuck barrels... slap it open near the end. Just a quick slap. Sometimes happens to the Diana 34's too, and always with the Patriot.
Kapowie, the 3100 is much older, and much better made. Crosman gave up quality years ago. The 3100 has much less power though. It was imported from Germany.
I just got the Quest 800x in .22 cal. It's powerful as it almost went thru a pine 2"x3". I also have a Benjamin 392 in .22 cal and I'm not sure at this point but it seems the Benji might be more powerful. Also the Quest is not nearly as accurate. Not sure if it will get more accurate after I fire 500 or so pellets through it. Anybody have any tips to improve accuracy?

ReplyDeleteI PURCHASED A CROSSMAN QUEST 100 A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO AND IT IS VERY INACCURATE. IT SHOOTS ABOUT 4 INCH GROUPS AT 15 YARDS. IT THROWS THEM EVERY DIRECTION. I AM SHOOTING CROSSMAN POINTED PREMIUM GRADE PELLETS AND HAVE ALSO TRIED DAISY PRECISION MAX FLAT NOSED PELLETS WITH NO IMPROVEMENT IN ACCURACY. I REMOVED THE STOCK SCOPE AND REPLACED IT WITH A GOOD SCOPE I TOOK OFF MY .22 RIMFIRE AND TRIED TO SIGHT IT IN. IT HAS NOT IMPOVED THE ACCURACY. ANY SUGGESTIONS?
ReplyDeleteHi cdm,
ReplyDeleteIt took mine around 250 rounds before it settled down and started grouping decent. How many rounds do you have through yours?
Try a LOT of different pellets. I find mine is very fussy about what it will shoot well. Every gun is different so you have to experiment.
Also check the barrel crown and make sure it looks ok. Sometimes factory crown jobs are really bad and that can affect accuracy quite a bit. If it looks to be a bad crown you will want to cut and recrown the barrel.
I don't know how familiar you are with shooting springers but they can be very hold sensitive. Try using a firmer or looser grip than you currently use and make sure you follow through the shot.
Hope this helps,
zoned
Aloha from Hawaii, Does anyone know where to find a muzzle brake for a Crosman Quest 800 .22 caliber? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHello Hawaii,
ReplyDeleteFor Quest brakes I would recommend Rich from Mich. I have one of his creations on my Quest and I really like it. I really need to take some updated photos of my Quest to reflect the recent changes I made to it.
Here is Rich's website to contact him. http://home.comcast.net/~peterdragin/index.html/
Happy Shooting!

ReplyDeleteThe Quest features a scope stop to prevent scope creep and point of impact drift as you shoot.
